Having Pain In The Left Hand Elbow Joint. Suggested To Use Wysolone And Hcqs. Now Pregnant. And Can Continue These Medication?
Hello, My wife has pain in the left hand elbow joint. As per the scan it is due to water accumulation at the area. I will send you the scanned copies once I get the reports. Doctor has suggested to use wysolone 5mg and hcqs 200mg for one month.
Problem: My wife is 24 years old and is pregnant now (1month 1week pregnant). Is it safe to use the above mentioned tablets during her pregnancy. If we do not continue taking those medicines, untill we have baby, will it cause problem to her hand? Or will it cause problem to the baby taking or not taking medicine?
Hcqs ?(hydroxycholoquine) has not been classified as a risk in pregnancy by the FDA but it is only recommended for malaria in pregnancy, not for other conditions. If there is an alternative medication that can be used, this is referred.
Wysolone is a steroid, it has a pregnancy category c. This category means that it has been studied in pregnant animals and has been shown to cause problems with the fetus but no studies have been done in humans.
You may want to consider speaking to your obstetrician and orthopedic doctor who may be able to suggest alternatives before using either of these medications.
I hope this helps
