Having Diabetes, Sugar Levels Fluctuating. What Can Be Done?

My doctor prescribe me prednisone for an allergic reaction to something I ate.... I have diabetes and have maintained it well with diet and excecise but since finishing the prednisone which was this past Saturday my sugar levels has been 303 - 493. I have been to the emergency room twice this week they will get me down to 233 and send me home and my sugar still remain high. What can I do because I'm starting to be afraid?

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

steroids are known to increase body sugar levels and are prescribed in diabetics carefully if needed.

Blood sugar of 303-493 is quite high and it needs to be under control. Such values can not be controlled by simple diet and exercises.

You need to be put on permanent anti-diabetic drugs for now rather than going to the er each time for a couple of insulin shots or whatever is given.

Still at 233, the glucose level is still not acceptable and so you should meet an endocrinologist.

Hope this helps you
Best regards

DEAR SIR/MADAM

STERIODS CAUSE IN THE BLOOD SUGARS MORE THAN WE EXPECT, EVEN IF YOU TAKE MEDICINES FOR DIABETES BUT IT WILL SLIP OUT OF CONTROL.

STOP TAKING TABLET PREDNISOLONE FOR ALLERGIC REACTION, TRY TO TAKE CETRIZINE AND MONTELAUKAST.

CHECK YOUR BLOOD SUGARS AND SEE ONCE.

THANKS
