Have Polyhyramnios. Taken Beta Methasone Shots. Due To Gestational Diabetes?

Okay. I am 37 weeks and have had a very difficult pregnancy. My doctors did an amniocentesis on Tuesday to check lung development. Supposedly all three markers came back negative. I received beta methasone shots at 33 weeks because they felt they would be delivering early due to my pre eclampsia. I was inpatient on hospital bedrest for two weeks. I have been home on bedrest with biophysical profiles and non stress tests 2x/wk. My abdomen is huge due to polyhydramnios (28 is the number) and the baby's abdomen is huge as well. Every time I ask why this is happening the doctors blame it on the gestational diabetes. I did a bit of research and if gestational diabetes is uncontrolled then that could be a potential cause. My GD has been totally fine and diet controlled.... No crazy glucose readings or need for insulin at all. I'm anxious and would really appreciate an answer.

It is early to ask for a lung maturity test at 37 weeks in a case of gestational diabetes, plus, it is not indicated because a case of gestational diabetes may continue pregnancy till 40 weeks.
As for the polyhydramnios 28 is not that huge as you mention. There is much more than that. There are many causes for polyhydramnios the most common is idiopathic (no obvious cause whilst everything is normal). Other causes must be excluded, the most important are central nervous system (neural tube defects) and gastrointestinal tract (obstructive lesions) anomalies, which can be excluded by a high level ultrasound.
Anyway, you don't need to worry much because at 37 weeks, usually everything will be fine.
