Have Hypertension, Diabetes And Rheumatoid Arthritis. Severe Pain, Swollen Eyes. Could It Be Due To Taking Diprofos?
My mum is hypertensive and diabetic recently she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and she has been experiencing severe pains. She went for review and was injected with Diprofos. Its been 2 weeks now and her eyes are very swollen. can this be one of the side effects of the drug? and should she see an ophthalmologist?
Hello,
A single injection of DIPROFOS ( BETAMETASONE ) is unlikely to cause very swollen eyes for two weeks.
Since your mother is diabetic and hypertensive, tjis swelling could be sign of kidney damage which results fro long standing diabetes and hypertension.
Other cause which can cause such type of swelling are..
Orbital cellulitis
Sinusitis
Allergic reaction etc.
You must consult a physician and get tested for kidney function tests and iother relevant investigations.
An ophthalmologist can subsequently be consulted
Thanks
