Have Anxiety Problems And Was Put On Zoloft. Have Chest Burning. Side Effect Of The Medicine? Treatment?
I have anxiety problems and was put on zoloft. I am on my 7th day at 25mg and am supposed to increase to 50mg for the next 7 days then return to the doc. I have had several issues with chest burning. I am told this is anxiety but it didn't happen before I started zoloft. I have also read that a number of people have experienced this. Today has been the second day this week that it just doesn't go away. I felt great yesterday. Please advise if this is typical of a reaction to Zoloft in the beginning. What is the best thing for me to do for the burning.
Hello, Tab. Zoloft contains Sertraline. It is Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI), it increases the serotonin levels in brain and helps in depression and anxiety therefore. It also causes gastric burning sensation as side effect, however this should go in time. If you have this symptom take some antacid medicine such as Tab. Ranitidine 150 mg or Tab. Rabeprazole 20 mg. You can also take cold milk or some chewable antacid preparations like Gelusil for heart burn. Do not increase the dose for one week and meet your doctor after one week and tell him about the side effect. Hope it is helpful, feel free to direct if any more queries this way. Regards.
