Have Raynaud's Disease. Hands And Feet Are Sensitive. What Can I Do To Be Comfortable?
I have been told I have Raynaud's disease. I cannot wear enough layers of clothes to keep warm. My hands and feet are exceptionally sensitive (especially at the base of fingernails). What can I do to be comfortable? The only way I am comfortable is lay down with a heating pad on my hands. I had a low level of Vit D this spring and had to take 50,000 IU per week. I also had 6-8 wks of diarrhea this past spring.

Self-care and prevention steps, such as wearing gloves, usually are effective in dealing with mild symptoms of Raynaud's. If these aren't adequate, medications are available to treat more-severe forms of the condition. Medicationsa such as vasodilator like nitroglycerin cream can help your fingers . calcium channel blockers such as nifedepine and Alpha blockers are used for some patients but they must be used under continuous medical supervision.
Exercise regularly, particularly if you have primary Raynaud's. Exercise can increase circulation, among other health benefits.
recognize and avoid stressful situations .it may help control the number of attacks.
Caffeine causes your blood vessels to narrow and may increase the signs and symptoms of Raynaud's.
Take care of your hands and feet. guard your hands and feet from injury. Avoiding tools that vibrate the hand may reduce the frequency of attacks.
hope this helps.take care!
