Hello,

Since you're a medical professional always adopt Universal Work Precautions methods before any intervention.
Regarding HBV Infection, It has a high rate of transmission during occupational exposure. You're vaccinated and regularly repeat the booster doses.
HIV has a 0.3 % for every 100 needlestick injury. Since you don't know the status of the source, Post Exposure Prophylaxis should be given within 72 Hours.
