Feeling Of Pull Inside Ankle Bone, Minimum Swelling, Tender Inside Bone. Treatment?

I was running and felt a "catch" on the inside ankle bone. Continued to run thinking it would loosen up. I finished my run. During cool down and stretches it hurt worse. After one hour I could not bear weight. It has been 5 days. X-ray was negative other than a heel spur. There is minimal swelling but very tender over the inside ankle bone. I am able to bear weight but only with ace wrap. Still unstable but without crutches. But I have to stay on Tylenol or NSAIDs to do so. It really doesn't all make sense. Still very tender and tingling at times.

Hi thanks for using HCM. I appreciate your explaination.

The injury you had while running had injured your ligament. So there is swelling with pain. X ray negative means no fracture bone.
Since mild swelling you may be suffering from 1st or 2nd degree tear. So you have to give time and rest for heal. You need to apply crepe bandage in its normal position, rest for 1-2 weeks, take seratiopeptidase with NSAID to reduce swelling and pain. Can apply local pain killer spray. Hope I answered your question. Wish you good health. Take care.

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
Your description suggests that you have a "Sprained ankle" (injury to the ligaments around the ankle) as the xrays are negative.
A ligament injury takes atleast 3 weeks to heal, provided it is given adequate rest and immobilisation. Keep continuing the medications and ice compressions. Advised to keep the foot end in elevation. If the problem still persists, an MRI scan is needed to ruleout any serious ligament injury. Hope this helps

Hello and Welcome to HCM,
Thanks for writing to us.
From description it seems to be ligament injury around your ankle as xray are negative. Imbolization of 2-3 weeks required for healing of tissues.Continue rest and take antiinflammatory as advised. MRI may be required to evaluate the severity of sprain. I suggest you consult an orthopaedic for proper management.
Hope this helps you.
