Does The Tonsillitis Need Immediate Medical Attention?

Hi... I went to the ER last thursday and was diagnosed with tonsillitus.. they gave me an iv of med ..painkiller and a de flamitory... I am on clindamycin 300mg 4 times a day for 7 days... but it is now Sunday morning and my throat is still swollen (not as much as Thursday) and there is pus all over my tonsils... should I go back to the ER? (I don't have a reg doc or insurance ) or should I give the antibiotics more time? And how long will the pus be there?

dear user

at begining i would like to tell you that tonsillitis caused mainly by atype of bacteria called streptococci .....so we should take it seriously ...it was agood behaviour from you to illustrate about that ...as completing the course of treatment is very important .....tonsillitis need course range from 7 days to 10 days of antibiotics as to eradicate and kill the causative micro organism....you may not need to go to er second time as you feel some improvement but still have infection .....my advice to you to complete your course of antibiotic because if you didnot complete it the infection may activate again and become more resistant to antibiotics.....streptococcal infection of tonsills has serious complications as examble it may cause reumatic fever ......so simply complete till 7th day of treatment and get your worry out......wish you healthy life
