Does Taking Unwanted 72 After Unprotected Sex Delay The Periods Or Is It Pregnancy ?
Hi.
I had unprotected sex and my boyfriend used the withdrawal method. I took Postinor 2 17 hours later to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. My period is already late before I had sex with my boyfriend and I still have not had my period till now. Is there any possibility that I can be pregnant in this case? Thanks.

Unwanted 72 is a emergency contraceptive pill, and the hormonal content of these pills can have an effect on your menstrual cycle . If this pill is taken in the first half of the menstrual cycle, periods will be preponed and if taken in the second half, periods will be postponed.
You say that your period was already delayed before having the intercourse, therefore for being on the safer side i suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test done at the earliest.
Since you have taken the drug within the first 24 hours, the efficacy of the drug is good and there are less chances of you getting pregnant. But i advise you to stop having unprotected sex , because on the longer run the contraceptive pills have a ill-effect on your health and could also alter your menstrual cycles to a greater extent.
Use any one of the safe sex methods in the future, and for now consult a gynaecologist after the pregnancy test. She will be able to evaluate and prescribe you accordingly.
