Does Doxcycline Could Affect The Accuracy Of Implanon?

Hi My name is C, i am 25 and was wondering if doxcyclinecould affect the accuracy of implanon? i have been using impanon for nearly 5 years (2nd one) and have been on doxycycline for approximately 2 months and my period is nearly 3 weeks overdue. could i be pregnant?

Hi, I have gone through your question. Doxycycline does not effect the contraceptive efficacy of the implanon, which is a progesterone implant.
However, the progesterone implants do have a side- effect of irregular periods or sometimes prolonged amenorrhea.
I would suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test, most probably which will be negative.
If it is negative, then it is the side effect of the drug and you will have your periods in the coming days.
