Diagnosed With Borderline Diabetes. What Is Causing Intermittent Sharp Pain In Middle Toe?

This is a question regarding a senior citizen who's been diagnosed with borderline diabetes a few years back. His diet has been closely monitored to keep sugar levels in check.Recently, he's been experiencing an intermittent sharp pain that only lasts a second or two in the base of his middle toe.Any general ideas of the possible cause with the information I have given? Thanks

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern for the patient who is senior in age, the history of diabetes is there no matter whether it is borderline or undercontrol but it is there If I would be his doctor then I would ask for Hba1c test, this test will show the severity of disease this is the first possibility can be taken into account rather than the other one, beside this the arthritis changes can be consider for the symptomatic you can try "Diclofenac" in sustain release form hope this will help you in taking decision have nice day.
