Diabetic, On Dialysis. Had Paracentesis This Morning. Threw Up Ounces Of Brown Liquid After Having Breakfast. Serious?

MY HUSBAND HAD A PARACENTESIS THIS MORNING. HE HAD SAUSAGE, TOAST, AND SOFT BOILED EGGS FOR A LATE BREAKFAST, HE SLEPT ALL AFTERNOON. WHILE EATING SOUP AND CRACKERS FOR DINNER, HE THREW UP FOUR OUNCES OF BROWN LIQUID THAT HAD PIECES OF WHAT LOOKED LIKED UNDIGESTED FOOD PARTICLES. HE FINISHED MOST OF HIS DINNER, AND IS NOW ALSEEP. HE IS DIABETIC, ON DIALYSIS, AND HAS HAD ABOUT SIX OF ABOVE MENTIONED PROCEDURES SINCE LAST FALL. NO PROBLEMS WITH PARACENTESIS OTHER THAN THIS EVENING. IS THIS LIQUID A SERIOUS LEAKAGE? THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS.

Hello,

Brown vomitus is indicative of presence of blood.
Paracentesis is a minor procedure but chances of bowel injury can not be rule out.
Wait and watch.
If the is a similar further episode consult your doctor.
he may advise for a Upper GI endoscopy to rule out bleeding.

Hello,
Vomiting of brown liquid gives a strong suspicion of it being a blood in vomiting.
The most common complication of PARACETASIS is accidental injury to intestines leading to bleeding. In my opinion you should take your husband to the ER for proper evaluation and may be even a GASTROSCOPY to rule out bleeding.
Thanks

You should take your husband to ER and get him evaluated and may be even a GASTROSCOPY.
