Dent On Forehead Right Below Hair Line For 5 Yr Old During Swimming. Should I Worry ?

Hello, my 5 year old daughter was jumping into a pool and head butted her younger cousin. My daughter now has a dent just a smidge smaller than an inch on her forehead right bellow her hairline. It feels soft under the indention. She seems to have no symptoms of a concussion but I'm still very worried. I was always told swelling with a head injury was normal but an indention is serious. Should I take her to the ER??

Hi

Yes she needs a visit to ER. We can never be sure from looking at the dent whether it injured the brain or not. Till then watch for neurological symptoms like headache, drowsiness, vomiting, blurred vision, etc.

To reassure you most dents are insignificant in kids.
