Could Breast Soreness And Enlargement After Sexual Intercourse Be A Pregnancy?

I have been on the pill for years and take it around the same time daily (I am married and sexually active with my husband). For the 1st time, I experienced VERY engorged, sore, breasts mid-cycle (almost 2 weeks before my period should begin). They're still engorged and I'm 7 days away from my start date. My sister thinks I could be pregnant, but I'm thinking that's probably unlikely. If I am pregnant, I would want to know asap to STOP taking the pill while pregnant, but if I'm not, then I obviously don't want to stop taking it. What are your thoughts?

Hallow Dear,

If you are so regular in taking the birth control pills, the possibility of pregnancy for practical purposes is almost nil. The pills are highly effective method of contraception.

Pills contain progestational medicine which is responsible for breast engorgement and breast tenderness. This happens due to salt retention as an effect of Progesterone. Salt restriction may give some relief.

If you are keen on finding about the pregnancy status even before you miss your period, you may go for Beta hCG test on the blood 10 days after the sexual intercourse. This will enable you to decide about the continuation of the pills.

I am sure, this will resolve your dilemma.
