Hi,

Thank you for your query.

If the appropriate antibiotic to which the typhoid bacilli is sensitive has been given then it shall take 48-72 hours for the temperature to return to normal. Unfortunately you have not shared the investigation findings and the medicines being given at present and so it is not possible to provide you all the guidance.

The precautinary measures that you need to take are:
1. Ensure proper food hygiene whether at home or outside as the infection spreads through feco-oral route.
2. Ensure that your daughter, and for that matter all family members, are vaccinated against typhoid.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.

Hi,
Typhoid is a very notorious infection these days.Usually if the bug is sensitive to the antibiotic then she should be fine in a weeks time. However if antibiotic resistant then maybe longer. The antibiotic will have to continued for a week extra after the fever subsides.Since typhoid is a water food borne infection any contaminated food or water can lead to this infection. Therefore avoid eating from roadside vendors. Also the best preventive is to get vaccinated against typhoid after she recovers. This vaccine will need to be taken every 3 years.
Bye
Take Care.
