Child Hit Head. Raised Bump With Fluid Filled. What Are The Symptoms Denoting?

Grandaughter 7 mos old fell off bed and hit her head about a month ago. She cried, we watched her for 24 hours and she seemed fine. It has been about a month and she still has a small spot, it didnt raise into a bump, but feels soft like small amount of fluid. Could she have had a skull fracture . Didn t even cross my mind when it happened. I am assuming since it has been a little over a month that it wasn t serious and even if we had taken her to hospital, with no neurological symptoms, we would have been told to just watch her.

Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
It depends , what is the location of soft area. As such in 7 months old, the skull bones have not united and there are places in between the bones which appear as gaps. If the soft area is at the place where the soft gap shouldn't be existing then it is a matter of concern. It could be a collection of blood called hematoma and will need antibiotic treatment to prevent it from getting infected.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
