Can The New Lump Be A Thyroglossal Duct Cyst Again?
My 8yr old son had surgery for thyroglossal duct cyst when he was 5. Last summer it came back as soon as he started getting in the pool. By the end of summer we cancelled a 2nd scheduled surgery because it had completely gone away. He has been swimming for almost 2weeks now and the lump on his throat is larger than a dime. He also seems a like he has a cold? I am assuming the chlorine is causing this somehow? Have you heard of this happening before?

Recurrence is quite common with TG cyst. If the track is incompletely removed, it will regrow in a couple of years.
You can opt for an ultrasound and fine needle biopsy to make a diagnosis.
Revision surgery will be the best possible option to prevent complications.
