Can Gestational Diabetes Controlled By Diet?

Hi My wife was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and she is 26 week pregnant. From past 3 days she is doing the Glucose test. here readings are normal. Todays result was one hour after lunch, her readings says 140. is it worrysome or if we can maintain strict diet, can i come down.Please advise Prema Kumar YYYY@YYYY

It seems you are too worried about her sugar control. You should not have done blood sugar estimation one hour after lunch. Post prandial blood sugar is estimated 2 hours after the lunch. 140 mgs % one hour after lunch is well within normal limits, even 140 mgs % 2 hours after lunch is also good control.
During pregnancy, the urine shows sugar in spite of normal blood sugar level. Therefore it is important to monitor blood sugar levels.
