Can Eating Mangoes Lead To Throat Constrictions Or Any Other Similar Problems?
hello, i just ate a manila mango and my throat itches. a few years ago, my lips got swollen and itchy, and i read that mango skin has something in it similar to poison oak . i eat lots of mangos, but have only had bad symptoms these two times. i m wondering if i need to worry about my throat constricting or anything serious like that.

Some variety of mango may cause allergic reaction.
Allergic reaction may manifest as irritation of throat , with red and congestion of throat.
It may leads to itchy lips with edema(swollen).
Sometimes generalized body itching and redness .
But you said it happened only twice , so nothing to worry.
In my opinion you can take an antihistamine medication .
Take plenty of water and avoid spicy food .
If no relief than you can see an ENT specialist for clinical evaluation.

Your symptoms are due to allergy to manila mango. Best thing is avoid eating such things causing symptoms like this
