Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
It seems that you have got severe radicular pain in the leg secondary to compression of nerve root by the bulging disc. As you are having this problem since years, I suggest you to have a repeat MRI scan of Lumbosacral spine to know the present state of spinal pathology.
Drugs will not completely cure the problem and they only supress the pain and they will not eliminate the root cause.
So i feel that there may be need for surgical intervention in your case. Hope this helps

Pain Medicine & Palliative Care Specialist Dr. Kerry Pottinger's  Response
Hi,
These symptoms could possibly be related to your disc problems. You are needing high doses of strong pain-killers which do not appear to be relieving your pain.
I would suggest you see an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in back surgery. You may possibly need further scans to assess any deterioration in the discs. It may be that you need surgical treatment.
