Can An Online Doctor Help Me Read My Ultrasound Scan Result?
Pls help me to interpret my ultrasound scan result. It says No intra or extra uterine gestational sac was seen, the uterus (78*39*34mm) is normal in size with a smooth outline.it returns homogeneous myometerial echoes. The endometrial plate(1.5mm) is normal thickness and echogenicity. Both adnexae are free..no fluid is seen in the pouch of Douglas. Conclusion;Normal study, Hormone profile advised
Hello and welcome to HCM, I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries. The results of the scan mean that there is no pregnancy and a normal uterus and endometrium [ uterine lining] is normal. There is no evidence of a pregnancy outside the uterus [ happens sometimes called ectopic pregnancy].
A hormonal study has been advised to check for other causes.
I am not sure why the scan was done. Most likely the scan was done for a missed period suspecting pregnancy. So there is no pregnancy. Hormonal imbalances commonly cause absent periods and hence need to be tested.
Hope this was helpful. Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help. Thanks for using HCM. Have a good day. Dr Nilajkumar Bagde Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology
