Can A Virgin Take Dronis 30 For Treating PCOD?
Hi Doctor, I am 29 years old unmarried woman. I have irregular periods and PCOD problem. My doctor suggested to take Dronis 30 for 21 days (for 3 months). But I heard that Dronis 30is a birth control pill & I am a virgin. Is it ok for me to take Dronis 30 for 3 cycles to solve PCOD problem ?
Note: Doctor also suggested to take glucophage 500 mg for 3 months along with Dronis 30.
Please help to resolve my query.

Hi,
Polycystic ovary disease (PCOD) usually presents with hormonal imbalance, irregular periods, anovulation, insulin resistance etc. According to my experience you can follow the advice given by your doctor, as:
- Dronis 30 contains estrogen and progesterone hormones. Though is used for contraception, it can be used in PCOD. The external hormones in pills by correcting the imbalance of internal hormones will maintain the hormonal levels in body, which will help to reduce the irregular periods, anovulation etc in PCOD.
It may take around three to four months to correct and maintain the hormonal levels.
- Glucophase 500 mg contains metformin, which will help to correct the insulin resistance in PCOD.
Along with these the other measures like, maintaining balanced and healthy diet, regular exercises can help in curing the problem.
