you can indeed. just put in a fresh one just before you lay down and change it as soon as you wake up. just be sure you have the right absorbency level. i.e.- light(skiny) for a small flow or super(thicker) for a heavy flow.
TSS comes from leaving them in when they have fully expanded and your menstrual has nowhere else to flow. you put yourself at a higher risk as it kind of stay in you longer.
