Can I Take Geodon For Paranoid Schizophrenia Or Is It Likely To Increase Risks Of Heart Attack?
Hi Dr. Koregol. I hope you are doing well . I have paranoid schizophrenia and have tried numerous medications to keep me sane. My favorite medication is geodon 80mg. I feel the best while taking it but I am so afraid that it will cause me to have a heart attack. Will geodon shorten my life?

Geodone consists of ziprasidone and there is few cardiac side effects of it like QT interval prolongation, chest pain, palpitation, arrhythmia etc, but chances of getting these side effects are rare(0.1-1%). Maintain the drug at same dose and it would help to avoid such side effects. Rest you can regularly go for your cardiac monitoring.
