I have COPD, and cough up volumous mucous each morning, I take flovent, and albuterol only. I just had a spirometry test for Social Security, and the technician said my results were quite low. I'm scheduled for cataract eye surgery in December. Will this be a limitation to my eligibility for surgery?
Hello It seems from the history that you are posted for cataract surgery and you are having COPD. Copd with bouts of cough will affect the surgery as coughing will interfere with surgery and may lead to damage to structures of eye during surgery. Following surgery coughing can lead to prolapse of iris through the surgical incision. Hence it is better to undergo surgery once cough is well controlled.
Thank you
