Came Across A High Level Prolactin Disorder

I recently came of medication for high a level prolactin disorder. It was hoped that because I am going through the start of menapause the levels of prolactin would drop at a normal rate but they did not and when checked they had risen to 1350(normal 350-450) I went back on medication Dostinex and within 2 weeks the levels had dropped to 400. During this period of high levels my body began to change with increased weight gain swollen breasts and tummy. I have been tested and I am not pregnant but the swelling and other symptoms i have discribed dont seem to be abaiting. Can you help.

Hi,

You need to get an MRI brain to rule out any pituitary adenoma. Do you have vision disturbances?

High-level prolactin needs evaluation before medical treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. B. Radhakrishnan. Nair, OBGYN
