The treatment options depends on the symptoms you are having.
If the fibroids are asymptomatic, no treatment required in general.
If you are having minor symptoms like dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia etc, hormonal pills can help.
If the symptoms are severe like heavy menorrhagic cycles, severe pain abdomen, fibroids causing compression over surrounding areas etc, you may need surgery.
Usually the fibroids will regress after attaining menopause.
So as you are nearing the menopausal age, if the symptoms are minimal, you can go for medical treatment.
Discuss these possibilities with your doctor and follow her advice.
