AFB Test Is Negative But Mountx Is Posiive
Hi, my wife has been diagnosed with infection on right upper lung. Then she took three sputum test for AFB which were all negative. Then she took a Mountx test which was positive. Few days she had fever which is not there but she has coughing and chest pain along with vomiting

She is most likely to be suffering from pulmonary T.B. She must take antitubercular drugs until her chest x-ray comes back to normal. Do not delay in treatment. It is completely curable.

Thanks Dr Rakhi, she had gone for a TB gold test which has come negative. The coughing is still there but there are no signs of vomiting and fever. The chest pain is still there. I have consulted with a doctor and have been advised for a CT scan.
Once TB comes to be positive on any accord its treatment should be taken for six months.
