8 Year Old, High Cholesterol, Stomach Pain. Taking Zetia. Is Stomach Problem Due To Zetia?
Hi - -my 8 year old son diagnosed with genetic high cholestrol has been taking Zetia for 2 years now. He is recently complaining of a lot of stomach pain and the Zetia does not seem to be working as well as it used to - -his levels are back up to 251 total cholesterol and 177 LDL after a very highly active summer of camp running around most of the day everyday in terms of exercise. Could these stomach symptoms be related to the Zetia if it has not appeared until now?

The Zetia (Ezetimibe) mainly used for lowering the cholesterol absorption, this drug act mainly on small intestine, it inhabits the absorption of cholesterol , so it also exert the unwanted effect on small intestine area, and that might cause the pain or discomfort, you better discus this with the Doctor, Have nice day.
