79 Years. Diagnosed Rectocele, Bladder Issues. Difficulty Urinating, Burning Sensation. Have Diabetes, Hypertension Etc. Risk Of Rectocele Surgery?
Hello my mother is 79 yrs old and having issues with what was diagnosed as rectocele also bladder issues. She has difficulty when urinating etc. Also feels burning sensation and pain. Her urogynecologist has her on meds for now, however it seems she may need the surgery for the rectocele. She has many health issues from diabetes, hyperstension and has had a heart valve replacement. She also has suffered for years with the rectocele and is pretty much tired of the issue. Please advise what are the risks of someone her age and with her healthj issues going through such surgery? Thank you.

In your mother's case if the herniation of rectum is minimal with no clinical symptoms then no need to go for surgery, here you can change the diet, watch for constipation, some exercise are there but your mother may not be fit for this, or if the tear is big enough then repair should be done, many new Technics are available with minimal risk nowadys please discus it with your doctor
