Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

I advise you not to give any antibiotic like Septran or flagyl without the prescription for the present condition.

You can give probiotic like Darolac in prescribed dose.

The mainstay is to maintain and monitor the hydration of the child.

Give sips of oral rehydration solutions such as Pedialyte to maintain hydration.

Monitor his hydration by activity and urine output.

Consult the doctor for examination and for prescription of specific medication.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Welcome to Health Care Magic
Hope you are doing good. Kids Fever , loose motion and vomiting last for 2 to 4 days usually if its not chronic. you should use simple few medicine for it
Probiotic sachet
Zinc syrup
ORS
Paracetamol syrup
If Persistent Vomiting then use Antiemetic.
If there are no sign of Dehydration you dont need to visit a doctor , if you kid has drozeyness , lethargic , dehydrated you should visit your family pediatrician soon.

Pediatrician Dr. Y V Siva Sankara Murty's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
Monitor for signs of dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5. Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.
Oral rehydration solution or any other solution containing salt and sugar should be given.
Probiotics and Zinc prescribed by your doctor will be useful.
If there are signs of dehydration then the infant needs urgent care.
Flagyl is not routinely given for loose motions in infants because most of the loose motions are because of viral infections.
Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
