General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,

In a baby presenting with such symptoms, it s critical to get the baby examined, especially if signs of an altered general state set in. This is to diagnose and treat complications like dehydration and electrolyte disturbances appropriately and early.

This is an acute febrile gastroenteritis, which could be viral or bacterial in origin. A clinical evaluation added to exams like a complete blood count, C reactive protein, serum electrolytes and erythrocyte sedimentation rate should be be sufficient to make an appropriate diagnosis and institute a timely and appropriate treatment.

I suggest you consult his pediatrician or primary care physician.

Thanks and best regard ,
Bain LE, MD.
