Question: I had UTI symptoms so started taking amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times a day and it's been 5 days. My right low back is still in severe pain... I also just got my period 4 days ago and it just ended. Is this pain a sign of kidney infection?

Brief Answer:
pain might be due to renal stones

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.

In my opinion, pain in right or left lower back associated with urinary symptoms mostly suggest renal stones.

As you have taken antibiotics urine infection might subside but renal stones predispose to recurrent UTI(urinary tract infection).

I suggest you to get an ultrasound done to rule out the renal stones. Dont worry small stones upto 5 mm do not require any specific water but for drinking more water.

Take water upto 3 litres or more per day to flush out the stones and also UTI. Cranberry juice and coconut water are also helpful in washing out and preventing UTI.

If the UTI is recurring, then I suggest you to go for urine culture and sensitivity test. This test helps in diagnosing the accurate organism and the antibiotic to which it is sensitive.

As you have already finished the period pain might not be period related.

For pain you can take ibuprofen tablet. It is available over the counter.

Dont worry .
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.
