Question: hi,

I am going for IUI. My age is 32.

In the first attempt of IUI the follicular study report says bellow

Right ovary measures ...3.1x...2.1..CMS and shows ...TWO follicles
Left ovary measures ...2.8x...2.0..CMS and shows ...THREE follicles

this I was not success

Now I am going for another attempt and now report showing as bellow

Right ovary measures ...3.3x...2.2..CMS and shows ...MULTIPLE follicles
Left ovary measures ...2.7x...2.0..CMS and shows ...MULTIPLE follicles

My question is at first time report says two and three follicles in right and left ovary, now it is showing multiple follicles. is there any problem with multiple follicles. if there is a problem what treatment needs to be taken?

Brief Answer:
PCOD , ovarian hyper stimulation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
I understand your concern.
The possibilities in your case are:
-Ovarian hyper stimulation due to ovulation induction. Here more number of follicles reach sufficient size.
-Polycystic ovary disease(PCOD). This condition occurs due to hormonal imbalance and in this case multiple small size follicles can be seen.
When one or two ovarian follicles reach around 2 cm size, IUI can be planned.
So, in this cycle if one or two of your follicles reach sufficient size, you can go for IUI as advised by your doctor.
If follicles are not growing properly and if multiple follicles remain even after ovulation, there is possibility of PCOD and you may need evaluation for that.
Usually treatment with insulin sensitizers and hormonal pills is needed for this condition.
Please discuss these things with your doctor and proceed according to her advice.
Take care.
