default
Posted on Mon, 23 Nov 2015
Question: I have received the results of a CT scan I had done recently. I won't see the doctor to discuss the results until next week. Could you tell me if there is anything I need to worry about? Is there anything I should avoid drinking or eating?

impression:
a few small hypodense lesions in liver, a 0.2-cm one in segment IV, a 0.8cm one in segment V/IVb, a 0.2-cm one in segment VI/VII, possibly hepatic cyst.
A few cysts in both kidneys up to 1.5cm.
Enlarged prostrate gland.
a 0.3-cm subpleural nodule at posterior basal segment of RLL, indeterminate.
a tiny sclerotic lesion at right iliac bone, possibly benign.

Brief Answer:
Your finding suggests few small liver, renal cysts and enlarged prostate.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Your finding suggests few small liver and renal cysts.
It is generally an age related developmental findings.
Generally this condition doesn't require any treatment. It may only require follow up ultrasound.
It may require surgical intervention if there is pain, infection, increase in size etc.
At present,I only advise for follow up ultrasound if you are asymptomatic.
This is usually not a serious finding.

Your findings also suggests enlarged prostate. It is important to know its exact size and your urinary symptoms.
It can be managed by both medical and surgical treatment.
You may need detail work up like urine RE/ME,PSA estimation etc.
Treatment plan depend upon findings.

Small subpleural nodule in right lung may also need follow up scan.It may be due to many causes. If is important to follow its progression like its doubling time etc.

Tiny sclerotic lesion in right iliac bone is generally due to benign causes.

In short,findings are not serious.

Your abdominal symptoms may require endoscopy.Your problem may be due to acidity/reflux etc.

Hope I have answered your query.

Dear Dr XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I am glad to hear you think the findings are not serious. The size of my prostrate gland is 5.0x3.3x4.3cm. I don't suffer any major urinary problems. I generally get up once or twice in the night to use the toilet.
Do the problems they found on my CT scan relate to my weight loss? I have already had an endoscopy and colonoscopy before my CT scan. The doctor said everything looked ok except EG Junction. But I cannot read his hand writing to tell you what he said about the EG junction. He has taken a biopsy for testing. I have attached a copy of photos and report . Do you think there is any food or drink I should be avoiding before I see the doctor next week? I still do have my symptoms regarding my stomach.
Thank you in advance.
