What Does Elevated WBC Count Along With Joints Pain Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 6 Nov 2014
Question: Hi Dr!
I have bilateral hip joint pain and shoulder pain. My ANA Direct came back positive, my ALT high (I normally run around 17 but it was 50), my indirect bilirubin came back slightly high, and I had a slightly elevated immature neutrophil count (.02). Back in 2008 and 2010, my WBC was 12.1 and 11.2 with my Neutrophils elevated in the 9500's and 9300's but have not elevated WBC since then (not sure if that matters... it was never followed up on). Should I be concerned about cancer?

Brief Answer:
Don't worry. It is not a cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Your total wbc count is slightly high with high neutrophil count. It suggest some infection. No chance of any type of blood cancer with this count. So don't worry about cancer. Just be relaxed.
Slightly high ALT may be due to some liver insult by drugs or alcohol.
Your ANA is positive. So you have some autoimmune disorder. Consult your doctor and take treatment of that.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
