Question: Dear Doctor,
I just got my follicle monitoring done. I ovulated between 21st Feb and 24th Feb. Started my period on 3rd Feb. I am on Metformin 850mg twice daily, folic acid 5 mg, Vitamin E tablet and also I got to know I am anemic recently so i am taking injections of Neurobion Forte daily for 1 week and then once a week for 6 weeks. I am also taking calcium, Iron tablets along with D rise once a week. Since i ovulated between cd 20 and cd 23 my doctor asked my to take HCG injestion on cd 19 as my follicle was 15.1X13.7 with Endometrial thickness of 9.7mm. She also asked me to take Duphaston tablet twice daily for one week starting CD 19. So today is my last day of the duphaston course. We did have intercourse during ovulation time, so I am not sure if I am pregnant or not. My periods are due on 2nd March. Should I continue taking Duphaston tablets? when can i check fo pregnancy test? P.S. - My doctor asked me to stop taking duphaston today but I feel I might be pregnant. Please advise. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
It is better to stop Duphaston.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
I have seen all the attached reports. The ovulation has happened and chances of conception are there. But if you continue taking Duphaston then you will not have periods even if you are not pregnant. if you feel that you are pregnant then you can wait for 5 days more and continue with Duphaston and do a pregnancy test. in case the pregnancy test comes negative then you will have to stop taking Duphaston to get the periods.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you for the reply doctor.
Can I know what could be the symptoms of pregnancy while taking duphston?
Also my Endometrial Thickness is 12mm, My doctor said it is too much.
Is this normal to get pregnant/conceive. She asked me to start Regestrone 5mg next month from 5th day of period for 25days for 2 cycles and incase the thickness does not reduce we have to do DNC. Is ithis required? Incase I am not pregnant this month should I take that tablet? can i still conceive while taking that tablet?
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
While taking Duphaston you may not feel early pregnancy symptoms. There can be some nausea and frequency of urination. An increased thickness of endometrium is not likely to cause problem in case you conceive.
Taking regestrone will help in maintaining proper endometrial thickness.
You are not likely to conceive while taking Regestrone. in case you do not conceive then you can take regestrone to regularise the periods.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Thank you Doctor. I do have regular periods every month just that i ovulate only by cd 18, but the cycle is usually 26-28 days. Also i jus saw that i am spotting a bit. Is this normal when i am taking duphaston? Is this periods starting as m due on 2nd if i count 28days or this could be implantation bleeding? I do ve nausea and little bit of cramps in my abdomen. Not sure if it is periods or pregnancy. By what date can i test for pregnancy?

Brief Answer:
Can be pregnancy or period.

Detailed Answer:
The mild spotting that you have can be an implantation bleeding or an impending period. it can happen while you are taking Duphaston. Your periods should be overdue by 4-5 days before you get a positive urine test for pregnancy. You can now get a blood test done for an early diagnosis of pregnancy.
