Posted on Fri, 1 Jul 2016
Question: I am a 55 yr.old man. Since last 5 yrs. I am suffering from uncontrolled rapid blinking of eyelids (both eyes), strong headache, anxiety & sleep disorder. Double vision is also observed sometimes. Minute tics started recently at rt.upper lip.
These symptoms last for 3 to 4 days a week. In the next 2-3 days, I enjoy absolutely normal health.
I have an old problem of gases & burps with inflammation in palms & upper back.I am also suffering from LUMBER SPONDI & STIFF NECK since last 10 yrs. My XXXXXXX is PITTA-VAT & vikruti is VAT-PITTA, as told by more than one NADI VAIDYA.
My Neurophysician has diagnosed the blinking problem as BLEPHAROSPASM due to disorder of nervous system & proscribed ZAPIZ-0.25 MG for one month. I have not started taking it & seek Ayurveda treatment.

Brief Answer:
eye dystonia/essential benign blepharospasm

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and following is symptomwise management:

1. Since opinion of Neurophysician is taken do get an advice from an Opthalmologist to rule out any other pathology of eye with same symptoms.

2. Was it due to disease of the eye itself or were there any triggering factor:

. excess alcohol,caffeine,smoking
. high pressure (wind/air,bright light)
. stress,fatigue
. side effect of drugs (esp. epilepsy and for psychosis)?

3. Tics in lips could be due to increase in severity and frequency of spasm (oromandibular/meige's syndrome)

4. Is anxiety/sleep disorder due to this nervous problem or ia there any associated health problem.

5. In my clinical practice I usually manage my patients on the line of "NIMESHA" along with dietary regime and lifestyle modifications.

Do revert back with your concerns.
