What Causes Spotting When On Birth Control Pills And Before Periods?
Question: Hello,
I a have been on birth control for 5 months. over two weeks ago i had sex and we did not use a condom but i take my pill religiously and have not missed a single one. The day after i was spotting a bit and then two days later started my placebo pills and had a normal period. Yesterday, i had some pinkish/ brown discharge or blood while wiping. Today there have been small spots of bright red. it fills a tampon fairly decently after about two hours. mostly pink and brown with red. I freaked out and took an hpt said negative. could this be breakthrough bleeding or implantation. oh also, last week i had to take prescribed medicine for a yeast and BV infection. don't know if that has any effect.
Oh also have had breast soreness for the past few weeks. I kind of always do but it's a tad more noticeable recently.

As you had normal period after unprotected sex and you had your pill on time, there is almost no chance of pregnancy.

Thank you doctor. I know I had a period a few days after sex but I didn't know if maybe it was too soon of a period after sex to really determine if I was pregnant or not.
