default
Posted on Fri, 2 Jan 2015
Question: Hi,
After my ovarian drilling for pcos i am on my 2nd cycle this month. I started spotting yest and today have very light bleeding. When should i consider that my period has started normally and start clomid? Doc has advised clomid 100mg from day 2 to day 7 of periods. Since my bleeding is very light i am confused. My last cycle started on nov 15th and that was very light too. I had intermenstrual spotting throughout the month. Please advice, i am out of country and will be back on 21 and can visit doc or go for follicular scanning only from 22nd.

Brief Answer:
take 13th as your first day

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mrs XXXXXX, I understand your confusion.
It is common to have light periods while taking clomid.
Consider yesterday as your first day of periods and start the clomid pill pack from today itself.
Then get the follicular study ultrasound on 22nd (day 10 of cycle).
In case you have any other question I will be happy to help.
Regards
Dr Manisha.

Thank you doc.... last cycle and this one my periods are very light. Is it side effect of clomid? This is my 5th cycle of clomid (2nd after ovarian drilling). If its thining my lining does tat make it more difficult to get pregnant? I am just worried because we are trying to concieve from last 7 months and how much i try avoiding taking mental stress i still get worried about this. Should i talk to my doc to change the meds? Also i have read that clomid for more than 6 months isn't advisable ad it has its own side effects. ... is that right? I m already in my 5th clomid cycle. ...Since i also had intermenstrual spotting the whole of last month i am very worried about my hormonal imbalance and wondering if it can get pregnant at all!!!

Brief Answer:
consult an infertility specialist

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, I understand your anxiety but let's proceed step wise without being hasty.
Take clomid as advised and discuss with your doctor regarding addition of estrogen in the form of tablet progynova twice a day and then perform in utero insemination along with follicular monitoring to achieve best results.
There is no point of having repeated ovulation induction in same manner in every cycle.
Consult an infertility specialist and proceed systematically.
