Brief Answer:
may be due to hormones or infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I understand the issue well.

Once breast feeding is completely stopped, the hormonal drives leading to periods tend to get regularized. It may take a while until complete harmony in all hormones is established. So some spotting or irregular periods are common in the few weeks after completely stopping breast feeding.

However a white discharge is not common. If the discharge has an odor or causes an itch or is excessive in amount then it needs to be examined. Other reasons for spotting and discharge are vaginal infections, cervical erosions and conditions called cervical polyps [ non cancerous small growth on cervix].

The commonest cause in your case is most likely the hormones getting restored. So just wait till your periods and watch the cycle in the next month.

If however the discharge is excessive or has a bad smell or causes an itch, it is better to see your doctor and et examined.

Do not worry as the issue is not an uncommon one. We frequently encounter similar patients and mostly it is either hormonal imbalance or cervical erosion.

Hope this satisfies your query.
