Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: My second toe on my right foot has become agonising and I find it impossible to walk on my foot I have what appears to be an abscess on the side of the toe which has opened with a lot of bathing this eased the pain a little but now I have another one just under it and the pain is again unbearable. The top of my foot is also getting red and itchy and I have another spot at the top of the foot that is very tender to touch

Brief Answer:
It is due to infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it looks like infection and associated inflammation.
Get your Blood sugar levels checked and exclude Diabetes.
I prescribe Antibiotic like Clindamycin 300mg twice daily along with anti inflammatory tablet to my patients with similar complaints. You can ask your local GP about this prescription drug.

Don't keep the wound open. Clean it and dress it daily.
Take rest and keep the right foot elevated.

It will come down.

Please consult your doctor, get examined clinically and get appropriate prescription. If pus is collected, it has to be drained.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
