What Causes Severe Headache While On Lymecycline?

Posted on Mon, 27 Jun 2016
Question: Hi

I am 24 years old. I am feeling really worried as I haven't had a period for 3 months. I am definitely NOT pregnant. This worries me as I would like to start a family in the next year and scared that I will not be able to conceive. I am feeling so run down lately. I am constantly tired to the point where I could just sleep at any time of day and this is after having about 10 hours sleep a night. I feel like I am in a bubble if that makes sense. I just don't feel right at all. I have been on lymecycline for 10 weeks and got another 6 weeks to go. I am on this for erythema nodosum and also ruccurent abscesses in my armpit. The lymecycline hasn't helped in the slightest as I still keep getting nodules on my legs and abscesses in my armpit but my GP told me to carry on taking them until I finish them. The tablets gave me really bad headaches so I take them at night just before I sleep so I sleep through the headache. What is wrong with me? Why Am I feeling the way I do? And why have my periods stopped? Please reply, I am desperate for answers. Thankyou
doctor

Brief Answer:
Can be due to hormonal imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
You can be assured that pregnancy isn't a factor here.
You have done pregnancy test and it is negative.
The other reasons of delayed periods may be hormonal imbalance, emotional upset, anxiety, stress, or other medical conditions that affect the ovaries, uterus, hypothalamus, or pituitary gland. Hypothyroidism, post pill amennorhea , polycystic ovarian syndrome or less frequently a pituitary tumor causing high prolactin levels or a hypothalamic disease are other causes that may be the cause here as pregnancy is ruled out.
Please visit your gynecologist to undergo physical check up and also to undergo relevant investigations required in your case to find out the cause so that treatment can be given accordingly.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

Thankyou for that. Can any of the conditions you mentioned stop me from having a baby? Can any of these make me become infertile? I cannot stop thinking about it and I am constantly feeling worried.
