Question: Hi my girlfriend is experiencing some abnormal symptoms, she is 24 years old. She always used to have her period for 5 to 6 days but for past two to three months she is being somewhat late to her menstrual cycle. This month on her date she dint have her period instead she had severe cramps in her abdomen for one week, later she had her period (i.e 7 days late from her actual day) but the weird thing is she had her period for only one day which initially started with brown spotting and she had heavy bleeding normal like period ( bright red color) I think she changed around 5 to 6 pads. On second day she had her pain but very light discharge on third and fourth day she had very little discharge on fifth day she found some kind of brown mucus discharge which occurred only once. She often used to have white mucus discharge in her vagina but this time after her period the discharge was quite heavy with itching sensation, she even got some pimple kind of thing in her vagina. The discharge was thick white in color with itching and burning sensation along with this she is having constipation, indigestion problem. She says that her stomach looks bloating due to indigestion problem. Today she got one drop of blood from her vagina along with the itching sensation. She is having some severe cramps in her abdomen. We are not sexually active she is a virgin. This month she was put in to more stress and some restless night. She recently joined yoga class which altered her day to day activities. Normally her pain during the menstrual cycle will be more so she was having pain killers for past few years. She stopped using those pain killers for 3 months. She even says that she gained some weight in her body and her breast has grown. I need to know what is the problem she is facing, I need some elaborate explanation. How this can be treated. We are worrying a lot about this issue, so please help us. If u need any more information from me u can ask. Waiting for your answers..

Detailed answer for multiple problems

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I Understand your concerns.

Following is my stepwise reply

1. Variations in cycles is due to the stress she is undergoing especially in terms of waking up at night, putting on weight as she feels it. These tend to delay periods temporarily.

2. If she continues her yoga classes along with walking everyday, she will loose weight as well reduce stress. This will surely help in regularizing cycles.

3. Since she is a virgin no need to check for STD or bacterial infections.

4. White discharge is a common phenomenon and not to be worried. Since there is itching along with white discharge I suspect fungal infection. This can be treated with any antifungal ointment available over the counter.

5. The boil seen outside vagina is possibly simple boil will disappear on its own.

6. Pain abdomen she is experiencing before periods could either be due to constipation she is suffering from or dysmenorrhea associated with periods in some women.

7. She needs to drink more water and eat fiber rich green leafy vegetables and fruits to get relief from constipation.

8. She needs more sleep to reduce her stress.

9. The bleeding pattern you described is because of some endometrial tissue left behind.

I hope your doubts are addressed. Let me know if you need more information.

Brief Answer:
Vomiting is due to gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Vomiting in such conditions is due to associated gastritis(acidity). Let her take an antacid tablet available over the counter and then eat some non spicy food. She will feel better.

Hope your doubt is cleared.

Hi,
Yesterday she visited OBGYN, the doctor said her said that she has been infected so she gave her medicines and ointment. She prescribed her clindamycin capsule, but after eating this tablet she has been vomited twice and feeling abnormal, she says that this tablet is very powerful. Why is she facing this issue, is it related to side effects of the medicine, what we should do now? Is it good to stop the medicine.
And she used to have this itching sensation for past one month, so used to apply castor oil and sleep. Is it advisable to use castor oil or due to that she has been infected more.

Brief Answer:
Do not use castor oil

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Do not stop medicines. Please continue the medicines as per doctor's advice.

I agree vomiting is definitely a side effect of this medicine as it causes gastritis.

Please take antacids like pantoprazole 40 mg available over the counter before taking medicine. This will reduce vomiting.

Don't use castor oil as it might increase infection.
