default
Posted on Tue, 7 Jul 2015
Question: I recently had a CBC. The results show a low range of white blood cells ( WBC and LYM) with an elevated BUN of 31. The clinic was not concerned, but I want to know what this may indicate. The clinician did not know.

Brief Answer:
not indicating anything serious

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
It would be helpful if you could write exact wbc values and is BUN measured in mg or mmol.
Low wbc is in every case better than high wbc. If other blood cells are within normal range than low wbc isnt indicating any disorder and this is commonly seen in healthy people. wbc also fuctuates from day to day so it may be normal after few days.
BUN is finding that is related to kidney function and elevated BUN may indicate kidneys disorder. however,31 is only slight elevation and if creatinin, potassium and sodium are fine, then there is no need to be concerned. if these findings are abnormal then you should see nephrologist. Wish you good health. Regards
