Question: My symptoms are: itchy, swollen, burning vagina. No burn when pee. Discharge is tiny cottege cheese-like white in color. No smell. I have a head cold also. What do I have? It isnt STD? I am taking things and suppositories for Yeast infection. How long for it to heal? It has been three days. It is still itchy, and swollen. But it is more tight down there than previous days. What is the order of sunptoms? Is itchy first? What means its getting better? Help.

Brief Answer:
mixed vaginosis....explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
With the history of symptoms with thick cottage cheese like discharge with itching definitely indicates a yeast infection , but also presence of burning in vagina and redness with swelling indicates a bacterial element as well. This can be mixed vaginosis with both bacterial ad fungal infection together.
This can be confirmed first by a high vaginal swab culture taken after a per speculum exam to isolate the causative organisms possible fungal spore and bacteria. Once confirmed , then you have to be placed on both antibiotics and antifungals together.
There are vaginal suppositeries or pessaries available with both antibiotic and anti fungal combination ( clindamycin and clotrimazole) , which have to be applied each night intravaginally for 7 days to complete the course of treatment. Also oral anti fungal like TAB FLUCONAZOLE 150mg has to be taken once a week for 2 weeks.
Itching shall reduce over 4-5 days and the discharge shall become homogenous indicating improvement.
However , an antihistaminic like TAB CETRIZINE 5mg may be taken twice a day for 3 days to alleviate itching symptoms.
please keep the local area dry and avoid intercourse completely till treated completely to avoid cross infection.

Brief Answer:
tiny dots are vulval sores....bacterial in nature.

Detailed Answer:
hello,
The red dots are vulval sores and inflammation secondary to bacterial infection . It is not herpes or an STD . The presentation is typical of a bacterial vulval sore with inflammed red area and central yellow sloughing.
Please follow the treatment advised . It would help.
Any form of frictional injury needs to be avoided . Intercourse should be refrained from till complete treatment is achieved.

use apple vinegar vaginal washes...explained.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
thanks for the follow up.
If you believe in naturopathy, then you can use apple vinegar vaginal washes thrice a day.
In 250 ml of RO water ,add one tablespoon of apple vinegar....and you can wash your vagina with in. The effect should be seen in 3 days in cases of bacterial vaginosis and mixed fungal infection.
it is to be continued for a week daily.

I did apple cider vinegar and it helped a bit, but it seemed to make those red sores worse. It seemed to be too strong? I didnt water it down. I put antibiotic cream on the area and it is healing the red sores. I am using tea tree suppositories which is helping. I have a little headache right now. Maybe tired. But it is surely yeast right? And how could yeast come? Because I have only had a yeast infection once before when i was 12, mild. This is my first as an adult, it is not a very good one. I think it is better but i just want to make sure im ok, cus i dont go to hospitals. :) When will the white pieces of skin stop? How long should this all take?Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
if you are benefitted by tea tree suppositories its fine ...the idea is to make the vaginal environment acidic to avoid
yeast growth.
ideally antifungal+ antibiotic vaginal pessary for 7 days would have been the best.
BUt if you are benefitted by naturopathy...then there is no harm.it takes 5 to 7 days for yeast to subside ,.
you can combine apple vinegar washes with these suppositories and can achieve quicker results. The vinegar has to be diluted as i mentioned earlier.
