What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements And Discomfort Post Defecation?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Dec 2016
Question: it looks i have a weak digestive system. I need to pass stool around 5 to 6 times a day. Also, sometimes, i feel uneasiness in bowls after passing stool which goes away after 5 to 10 minutes but no pain. It seems i have both constipation as well as diarrhoea symptoms. However, it is not exactly loose motions as most of the times stool looks normal except sometimes little watery and sometimes white mucus is present in the stool. While pressing/touching the stomach from outside, many times it does not give soft touch feeling which probably shows some infection. Before going to sleep in the night, i need to empty myself, after this i am able to sleep for around 6 hrs without much problem. Please advise what to do.

Brief Answer:
Infection or IBD

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern towards digestive symptoms
1) Since when you have these symptoms? Do you have any abdominal pain?
2) Increased frequency of stool + loose stool + mucus in stool indicate either intestinal infection or inflammatory bowel disease.
3) For infection, you must do stool routine and culture examination and based on that appropriate antibiotics must be started.
4) Inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcertaive colitis or Crohn's disease) is inflammation on inner wall of large intestine. This will affect absorption of nutrient from ingested food and lead to malnutrition and weight loss.
5) Severe inflammation cause inner wall to secrete mucus which is responsible for loose stool with mucus formation.
6) This require detailed evaluation with colonoscopy + biopsy and once confirmed then appropriated treatment must be started.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help you.
Have a good day!
