What Causes Cloudy Urine?
Question: I got a urinary tract infection three months ago that required a catheter and pee bag. Urine became clear as the antibiotics treated the infection. The last couple of weeks, however, the cloudy urine is back. It appears once after the morning bowel movement and then is clear the rest of the day.
I have an enlarged prostate from the slow moving cancer characteristic of prostate cancer. I'm seeking treatment with a urologist. I am now taking Flomax daily right after dinner. Last PSA reading was around 5 about a year ago.
My question is: what would cause cloudy urine only after the first bowel movement of the day, when all other times, including peeing right before having that first cup of coffee, the urine is crystal clear?

There are many causes of cloudy urine.
Microscopic hematuria;it may not show bright red or dark red but rather it may appear as cloudy urine.
A urinary tract infection ( UTI) can cause cloudy urine
Semen if mixes with urine, you'll notice a cloudy urine,e.g in retrograde ejaculation.
The best way to know the exact cause is to subject your urine (first morning sample) to routine analysis.
With your prostate cancer ,overnight oozing of blood in microscopic amount is most likely the cause.
Since PSA is 5 ng/ml,cancer has spread beyond the confine of the gland.
First bowel movement with fecal load is likely to cause squeezing of prostate and small mixing of blood in microscopic amount.
