What Causes Blood In Urine With Burning Sensation During Urination?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: I am a male, 58. I passed gas while urinating , while seated, today, and felt the pressure and rate of urination increase. It felt like I might have tore something internally but near the tip of the penis. Just urinated again and felt burning. Urine is normal colored in the bowl, but there is a lite discharge of blood when I hold toilet paper to the tip and catch a dribble. There also is a small amount of light red discharge in my underware. The blood is diluted red and not dark or black.

Brief Answer:
passing stone or prostate problems...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

it seems that the blood is originating from the lower urinary tract after the bladder. The prostate or the urethra are the most likely involved sites. Have you ever had renal stones? Passing a stone may cause discomfort and bleeding. An enlarged prostate is another cause of bleeding. Injury to the urethra by forceful urination is another possibility although it takes a lot of force to "accomplish" that! A visit to the urologist is recommended. Placing a catheter until the injury heals might be required.

Kind Regards!

Thank you. I'm pretty sure that it was a freak forceful urination event. Seems to getting better. Hope to avoid the catheter! Again, thanks.
